I remember the movie, rented the VHS in the 90s. It was a remake of Hong Kong the Sword "One Armed" I think the main villain was the actor, the role of "Rengo" played in Jet Li's "Once Upon a Time in China" series of films, but it was Jet Li in the movie. I can not remember the title .... aaaaarrrghh! I will contact you shortly, if I remember.
EDIT: Yeeeesss! Found! The title is "The Blade says" (Cantonese title: "Dao"), directed by Tsui Hark. He left in 1995.
